The reporter recently learned that the planning of the economic zone on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang has been reported by the Xinjiang Autonomous Regional Government to the National Development and Reform Commission. If the plan does not need to be adjusted, it will be submitted to the State Council for approval recently.
The "National Main Function Zone Plan" released in June proposed that the economic zone on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang is located at the western end of the horizontal axis of the land bridge in the national "two horizontal and three vertical" urbanization strategic pattern, including the north of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang and the south edge of the Junggar Basin. The functional orientation of the region is: Land transport hubs and important gateways open to the outside world for Central Asia and West Asia, the country’s important energy bases, the international major channel for China’s imported resources, important international trade centers, logistics centers, and foreign countries in the northwest region. Cooperative processing base, oil and gas chemical industry, coal power, coal chemical industry, mechanical and electrical industry and textile industrial base.
The Xinjiang Autonomous Region's "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" proposes that the economic belt on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains starts from Hami in the east and reaches Yining in the west. The scope is more extensive than the area delineated in the National Plan for the Main Function Zone.
People in the industry believe that as an important part of the national strategy for the development of the western region, the rise of the economic zone on the northern slope of Xinjiang into a national strategy is of great significance to guiding the development of northern Xinjiang. After the introduction of the regional plan, the existing advantageous industries in the northern slope economic zone of Xinjiang will be further strengthened, including: wind energy, solar energy, oil and gas and inorganic salts in Turpan and Hami; agriculture in Shihezi, Manas, and Shawan; Kuitun Petrochemical and light industry in Karamay, Wusu, and land cargo trade in Bole, Jinghe, and Alashankou. The introduction of the plan will bring certain benefits to Xinjiang's energy, agriculture, dryland and water conservation, and tourism sectors in the capital market.
